Part of CHAHINE: THE RESTORATION PROJECT, 100 years of Youssef Chahine
The one thing that enables famous singer Fikriya to tolerate life with her husband, Farid—a gambling addict—is their daughter, Nadia. When a train carrying Fikriya to Aswan crashes, Farid uses her life insurance money to pay off his debts. He then convinces Fikriya to stay in hiding so the public would continue to believe she is dead, and flees the country with Nadia, leaving his wife heartbroken with loss. Years pass and Fikriya crosses paths with Nadia once again, but keeps her identity a secret. Yet when she discovers that Farid uses Nadia for money the same way he used her before, Fikriya finds herself in a challenging dilemma.
