In memory of the centennial of acclaimed writer, novelist and journalist Ihsan Abdel Quddous, Zawya will be celebrating by a retrospective of his cinematic works from October 18th to November 1st. With more than 600 novels and short stories, nearly 50 of which were adapted into feature films, Ihsan Abdel Quddous played an integral role in shaping the Egyptian cinematic and literary memory. It proved a challenge to program a retrospective that would encompass and rightfully represent the wide body of work of Ihsan Abdel Quddous. The retrospective will include screenings of the writer’s adapted films, a display of original film posters at the cinema, and talks following select screenings. This program was made possible with the support of the Abdel Quddous Family, Rotana, ART, Al-Nasr Film and the Egyptian Film Center
