With his striking visuals and stunning cinematography, we are thrilled to present 4 of WKW’s most notable titles on the big screen in August: CHUNKING EXPRESS, FALLEN ANGELS, IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE and 2046

Born in Shanghai, and later moving with his parents to Hong Kong when he was five, Wong Kar Wai directed his first feature in 1988
Later in 1990, he founded his production company, Jet Tone Productions Limited. In 1994 he directed and released CHUNGKING EXPRESS, which launched him onto the international film scene. This was followed by FALLEN ANGELS, which premiered at the 1995 Toronto International Film Festival

He achieved further international recognition in 1997 with HAPPY TOGETHER, winning Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival
In 2000, IN THE MOOD FOR LOVE also competed at the Cannes Film Festival, achieving great success worldwide and being voted one of the 25 greatest films of all time by Sight & Sound’s international poll of critics, programmers and filmmakers
He subsequently directed 2046 in 2004, which continued to garner awards and recognition from the international film scene
His body of work has been recognised by numerous international awards, making his name synonymous with iconic auteur cinema. With his impeccable taste for visual and musical aesthetics, his films have inspired filmmakers and artists far beyond the cinematic world
