Ragab returns to Alexandria after three years at sea, longing to see his cousin, Hamedah, whom he loves and plans to marry. Yet he soon begins to suspect a relationship between Hamedah and his childhood friend, Mamdouh, and also finds himself embroiled in a raging conflict between the port’s workers and Ezzat Effendi, who heads the shipping company owned by Mamdouh’s father. Consumed by jealousy, Ragab becomes a pawn in Ezzat’s conspiracy to prevent Mamdouh from succeeding as president of the company, while Hamedah tries to keep Ragab from succumbing to his anger, which threatens to engulf everyone involved.
