We are thrilled to announce the next edition of Maqamāt; a collaboration between A Kiss in the Desert and Zawya.

 

The programme’s namesake is the Maqamāt, a mediaeval concise literary format, with recurring characters adapting different roles in each Maqāmah, in a manner very similar to a short film.

 

This month’s edition is the fourth installation of the theme entitled ‘Land’. 

Maqamāt programme includes four films:

When the Wind Rises, Hung Chen, Taiwan, 2023 – 18’

Then Came Dark, Marie-Rose Osta, Lebanon, 2021 – 15’

Butterfly, Sunčana Brkulj, Croatia, 2024 – 8’

Our Own Shadow, Agustina Sánchez Gavier, Argentina, 2024 – 20’

 

All films are screened with Arabic/English subtitles.

The programme is screened on Tuesday, February 25, at 7 pm.
